Books bench Siena's Ubiles; Academic issues result in indefinite suspension.(Sports)

The Siena men's basketball team dealt forward Edwin Ubiles an indefinite suspension Friday for academic reasons, though school officials left open the possibility of Ubiles returning by the start of the season.

Ubiles, the reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference co-Rookie of the Year, can't practice with the team and won't play in Saturday's Green and Gold Game, the Saints' annual intrasquad scrimmage.

Ubiles, a sophomore, remains eligible to play by NCAA standards, but Siena coach Fran McCaffery decided to issue the suspension before Ubiles' problems compounded.
